FAQs
How much does it cost?
Open play sessions run $25 or you can sign up for a 5-session pass or a monthly membership and save per session. Tiles, mats, racks, and accessories are included in the hours you sign up to play. They are also available for purchase so you can entertain at home.
Any food or drink available?
Yes! We have a beautiful selection of wines, waters and other beverages available for purchase. There is also a curated assortment of snacks if you would like to purchase something light.
When I make a reservation for one or for a group, how long do we have to play?
Reservations, whether solo or for a group, are all for a 2-hour segment of time. Time can be extended for an additional seating charge, only when space in the house permits. Notify one of our guest experience associates if you are interested in possibly extending your playing tjme.
Where do I park?
There is parking available behind the building. You can enter the lot from Lombardy Circle or take an open space on Lombardy.
How do I play with others of a similar skill level?
We'll ask that your self-rate based on the pace of your play when you make a solo reservation. We'll do our best to match similarly skilled players, so you get the most play possible in your 2-hour reservation.
What if I sign up for a single seat and there are not three others signed up at that same time?
We'll do our best to match similarly skilled players at tables of four at each reservation time. We also have team members who can sub in to round out tables as needed. Occasionally we may need to revert to three-player or two-player seating or ask you to play with others up or down a skill level. Please know we'll communicate proactively if there are any changes or challenges, and will ask you to do the same. Honoring your reservation is the best way we can ensure everyone has a seat and all tables are full.
Do you play for money, points or just fun at Heron House?
Fun of course! We all play for fun. Scoring pads are available for those who would like to play for points and keep score. We are not permitted to allow guests to play for money per the laws here in North Carolina.
I'm a member of a local league. Can I play at Heron House?
Absolutely! We are blessed with some great local leagues and league players are welcome at Heron House either based on their membership or at the standard pay to play rate.
I'm ready for something competitive. Does Heron House have tournaments?
Yes! Look for mini tournaments, held in collaboration with Sweet Carolina Mahjong, coming soon.
