Why the Heron
What beautiful birds! The heron is widely known as a symbol of transformation, balance, grace, wisdom and harmony.
That's like the game of mahjong, isn't it?!
Many of us find learning the game and making time to play more than a little transformative. It's actually profound. From lives of digital rat-race, we put our phones away for a few short hours to focus, to pause and just PLAY. We experience clicking tiles, cool to the touch and weighty in our hands. We appreciate the color and beauty of a curated tablescape while we stretch our minds a bit. There is harmony in four friends, whether lifelong or brand new, enjoying the game, enjoying each other.

The Heron House Community Gives Back
We're very excited to share another way to enhance the connection among our mahjong community. One Sunday per month at Heron House will be designated Giving Sunday.
Members can nominate their favorite local non-profit and each month one nominee will be selected by drawing for our Non-profit Spotlight. On Giving Sunday, Heron House will host an open play with a portion of the proceeds donated to the selected non-profit. We know how generous and thoughtful this mahjong community can be, so we can't wait to get your nominations and feature some of the organizations that are important to you!
Mark your calendars. The first Giving Sunday is scheduled for June 28.
